Mystery cheese

You probably don’t realize but I don’t have a lot of time to buy cheese and take photos and photoshop, and write posts, I pretty much pick one day a month and complete all of these tasks, in addition to actually tasting each of them.

This one, unfortunately got away from me.

The packaging was wax paper so it was complete trash after opening. I SWEAR that I took a picture of the label, and I even started a post draft with the pictures and name; all of these were lost. It was really an amazing feat of carelessness and technology malfunction.

So, as embarrassing as this is, I still don’t have a really good idea of what this cheese might be called. Maybe one of you can help me name this mystery cheese. This is everything I know about it:

  • It is Italian.
  • I bought it from Eataly NYC.
  • Goat’s milk cheese.
  • It has a thin rind.
  • The inside is crumbly like other cheeses I’ve tried before; e.g. La Tur and Bucheron goat cheese but it has a creamy layer of ooze between the rind and crumbly center.
  • It has salt added; so, the taste is extremely salty. I never tried a cheese this salty.

Although I have no clue for sure what exactly this cheese is called, I do have a couple guesses. However, I operate more on a, “you show me yours I’ll show you mine” methodology.
